EIZO Limited today announced the release of the FlexScan EV2750, a 27-inch IPS monitor with an LCD screen that is flush with the minimalist frame that surrounds it for a fully flat surface. The FlexScan EV2750 features picture-by-picture capability and numerous ergonomic and energy-saving features that make it ideal for business environments such as trading rooms, control rooms, and back offices.

The cabinet is essentially bezel-less on the sides and top with a frame that is just 1 mm in width. The LCD panel’s perimeter has black borders of 5.5 mm. The depth of the cabinet is a mere 48.5 mm. This minimalist design combined with a fully-flat surface makes for a seamless visual experience. Furthermore, the cabinet is available in white to blend in with modern desktop and office environments (black also available).

The 27″ screen uses an LED-backlit IPS (in-plane switching) LCD panel with a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. Its 178° viewing angle minimises color shift. The typical brightness is 350 cd/m2 and the contrast ratio is 1000:1.

The FlexScan EV2750 has an ergonomic stand with 155 mm height adjustment, 40° tilt (5° down, 35° up), and 344° swivel. It pivots 90° clockwise and counter-clockwise to take advantage of the ultra-slim bezels when using two or more monitors side-by-side in portrait mode. A quick-release button allows for easy removal of the monitor from the stand for reconfiguration on a VESA-compatible mounting device.

One DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI-D input terminals are included for connection to various graphics boards. With picture-by-picture, content from two inputs can be displayed at once.

The brightness dimming methods of conventional LED-backlit monitors causes many people to see flicker which results in eye fatigue. EIZO uses a hybrid dimming technology that makes flicker unperceivable even at low brightness levels. Furthermore, in dimly-lit work environments, brightness is adjustable to 1 cd/m2 which is less than 1% of the maximum.

EIZO’s incorporates its own EcoView technologies to reduce typical power consumption to 22 watts. Auto EcoView automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness in accordance with the ambient brightness to trim power usage while reducing eye fatigue. EIZO has upgraded Auto EcoView so that it takes into account the human eye’s sensitivity to changes in low brightness levels up to 100 cd/m2 and renders these changes less noticeable for more comfortable viewing.

EcoView Optimizer 2 saves power by reducing the backlight brightness and increasing the gain on screens consisting mostly of dark content.

EIZO backs the FlexScan EV2750 with its industry-leading five-year warranty to reduce total cost of ownership and ensure a long service life. The monitor is also guaranteed against bright pixels for six months from the purchase date. 1

EIZO-developed software2 called ScreenManager Pro lets users adjust colour and EcoView settings with the mouse and keyboard instead of the on-screen display menu. It also works with EIZO’s EcoView NET power management software which lets network administrators control the brightness and power settings of all compliant monitors.

Five preset modes are included – sRGB, Movie, Paper, and two modes with user-adjustable settings. Paper mode reduces the amount of blue light to help prevent eye fatigue.

Additional Features

  • USB 3.0 hub with one upstream and two downstream ports.
  • Dual 1-watt internal speakers and a headphone jack.
  • Overdrive circuit with 5 ms gray-to-gray response time for smooth display of moving images.
  • Energy Star 6.0 and TCO Certified Displays 6.0 compliance.

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced that the RadiForce RX850 8 megapixel monitor significantly improves reader efficiency over a multi-monitor configuration as demonstrated in a research study conducted by the University of Arizona Department of Medical Imaging.

The study, headed by Dr. Elizabeth A. Krupinski, PhD, demonstrated reader efficiency of EIZO’s 8 megapixel RadiForce RX850 compared with two 5 megapixel RadiForce GX540 monitors when viewing mammography images. Radiologists were asked to view a set of mammographic cases, once in each format, and determine for each case if a lesion was present or absent.

Overall, the difference in resolution between the RadiForce RX850 8 megapixel monitor compared with the combined resolution of the two 5 megapixel monitors (10 megapixels) did not appear to influence the readers’ ability to detect a lesion, demonstrating consistent diagnostic accuracy with the streamlined single screen.

The obtrusive bezels in multi-monitor configurations may cause a disruption of the eyes’ ability to smoothly scan information between two separate monitors. The study showed that the number of times radiologists scanned from one image to the other was significantly less with the RadiForce RX850 compared to the two 5 megapixel monitors. On average, the radiologists spent 62.04 seconds viewing the single screen and 68.99 seconds viewing the dual screens. This showed that the single RadiForce RX850 reduced overall time spent viewing images by an average of nearly 7 seconds (about 10%) compared to the dual RadiForce GX540 monitors. This could contribute to a more efficient mammography workflow by saving time per case.

Dr. Krupinski said, “Having the images side by side literally makes it easier for the visual and the cognitive system of the radiologist to take in more information. Plus [there is] the gain in efficiency. If it takes less time to view the images but render the same diagnostic decision, that certainly is an advantage.”

CS270

EIZO Limited today announced the new ColorEdge CS270, a 27” colour management monitor that fits the varying needs and budgets of photo enthusiasts and graphic design professionals. The ColorEdge CS270 offers many of the advanced features of EIZO’s ColorEdge lineup such as a wide colour gamut and hardware calibration. It also delivers benefits not usually available with cost-performance monitors such as dedicated calibration software that supports compatibility with a wide range of third-party calibration devices and a manufacturer’s five-year warranty.

The ColorEdge CS270 features a wide-gamut IPS (in-plane-switching) with a 2560 x 1440 native resolution and reproduces 99% of the Adobe RGB colour space. With this extended gamut, images shot in RAW can be converted to Adobe RGB or images shot in Adobe RGB will be displayed in vibrant and lush colours. A LED backlight reduces power consumption to just 34 watts during typical operation and utilises brightness modulation technology for flicker-free image display to help prevent eye fatigue.

The ColorEdge CS270 comes equipped with DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI input terminals. With the DisplayPort input, the monitor offers 10-bit display1 (more than one billion colours simultaneously) from a 16-bit look-up table. In addition, it can display 10-bit colour via the HDMI input terminal with Deep Colour applicable devices.

EIZO’s DUE (digital uniformity equaliser) technology compensates for uniformity errors common to all LCD panels to produce more even brightness and colour across the screen. With DUE, the screen stays uniform even when calibrating the monitor to user-preferred settings.

For users that require a wide variety of calibration functionality, EIZO bundles its proprietary ColorNavigator 6 software. Preset target values for photography, printing, and web design are included for users looking for a simple way to calibrate the monitor. Experienced users can set their own target values for brightness, gamma, and white point, and generate an ICC profile. ColorNavigator 6 offers several advanced functions such as measuring the white of the paper to be used for printing for better screen-to-print matching and profile validation for verifying calibration results.

Because ColorNavigator 6 is proprietary software, EIZO has ensured it is compatible with a wide range of calibration devices from X-Rite, Datacolor, and other manufacturers2 and supports Macintosh, Windows, and Linux (Red Hat 6.4) operating systems. Updates to ColorNavigator 6 are available onwww.eizoglobal.com free of charge.

An ergonomic stand with 35° tilt, 344° swivel, portrait mode, and 148 mm height adjustment lets users place the screen in the optimal position. The stand has a sturdy build and includes a cable holder for a clutter-free desktop.

The ColorEdge CS270 is backed by a five-year manufacturer’s on-site warranty including the LCD panel3. This is at least two years more than the warranty of most monitors to ensure long service life and low total cost of ownership.

Additional Features

  • Gamma curve for each monitor adjusted on the EIZO factory line.
  • Two upstream and two downstream USB ports.
  • Supports EIZO’s UniColor Pro software that simulates color blindness so designers can choose color schemes for maps, road signs, web sites, etc. that can be viewed by everyone.
  • EIZO shading hood for reducing ambient light reflection available as an option.

CG248

March 17, 2015 – EIZO Limited today announces the release of the new ColorEdge CG248-4K, a 23.8” monitor with a UHD (ultra-high-definition) 4K (3840 x 2160) native resolution for creative professionals who work with high-resolution content such as photography, print and video.

This latest addition to the EIZO ColorEdge 4K lineup will be unveiled alongside the new CG318-4K at The Photography Show (The NEC, Birmingham) from 21st March to 24th March on the EIZO stand (B31)

The ColorEdge CG248-4K features the highest pixel density yet in the ColorEdge lineup at an astonishing 185 ppi (pixels per inch), making high-resolution image display smoother than ever. This allows professionals to display the high level of detail captured in 4K photographs with exceptional clarity. Alphanumeric characters and contours are also distinguished with excellent sharpness for the printing workflow.

The ColorEdge CG248-4K comes with a built-in sensor to enable self-calibration for hassle-free monitor maintenance. EIZO offers two dedicated calibration software programs, ColorNavigator 6 and ColorNavigator NX, that lets users set target values for brightness, gamma, and white point and generate an ICC profile. ColorNavigator 6 comes bundled with the monitor and is for individual users that require additional functionality such as manually adjusting the properties of a calibrated monitor.

For colour management of the ColorEdge CG248-4K and other select ColorEdge monitors on a network, EIZO also offers ColorNavigator Network, a secure, cloud-based web hosting solution for administrators to perform quality control (QC) tasks on client ColorEdge monitors with ColorNavigator NX installed. ColorNavigator NX is available as a free download from eizoglobal.com and is for organisations that want to centralise quality control of their monitors.

The ColorEdge CG248-4K uses an LED-backlit IPS (in-plane switching) LCD panel with a wide colour gamut that covers 99% of the Adobe RGB colour space. It also covers 100% of the Rec. 709, EBU, and SMPTE-C standards, as well as 77% of Rec. 2020 and 93% of the DCI used in post production to ensure faithful colour reproduction for a multitude of creative industries.

A typical monitor takes 30 minutes or more for its brightness, chromaticity, and tone characteristics to stabilise but the ColorEdge CG248-4K takes only three minutes, so professionals can count on reliable colour soon after turning the monitor on.

Accessible using the monitor’s front keys, a 4K zoom function enlarges specific areas of the screen enabling photographers to quickly check details and focus accuracy in images.

The ColorEdge CG248-4K comes with a sleek new cabinet design that blends well within a working environment. It is as practical as it is aesthetically pleasing with LED backlit buttons for dimly-lit studios, a carrying handle and cable holder on the back, and three USB 3.0 downstream ports on the side. It also has an ergonomic stand with 150 mm height adjustment, 40° tilt (-5° – 35°), and 344° swivel as well as portrait mode capability.

For brightness and colour uniformity, EIZO uses its own Digital Uniformity Equaliser (DUE) technology. DUE ensures a Delta-E difference of three or less across the screen. It also counterbalances the influences that a fluctuating ambient temperature may have on colour temperature and brightness.

Additional Features

  • Factory-calibrated to ensure colour uniformity between all units
  • 3D LUT (look-up-table) that adjusts colour individually on an RGB cubic table
  • Two DisplayPort (ver. 1.2) and two HDMI connectors
  • 10-bit display1 (more than one billion colours simultaneously) from a 16-bit look-up table
  • Shading hood included to minimise ambient light reflecting off the screen
  • Five-year manufacturer’s on-site warranty including the LCD panel and a brightness and colour warranty of up to 10,000 hours.2

Availability

The ColorEdge CG248-4K will be on display at The Photography Show (The NEC, Birmingham) from 21st March to 24th March on the EIZO stand (B31). Please contact us to find out about availability.
