2018 - EIZO

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the release of the FlexScan EV3285, the new flagship model in the FlexScan series, and successor to the EV3237. The monitor features a 31.5-inch 4K LCD display with a new frameless design and USB Type-C connectivity, making it ideal for control rooms and offices.

The FlexScan EV3285 is a large 31.5-inch monitor with a 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), providing a large working space in which to run multiple applications. Furthermore it has 140 DPI, so that it can display images and text with excellent sharpness and clarity.

FlexScan EV3285It is the successor to the FlexScan EV3237, and offers many new and improved features. The monitor has a new frameless design that makes it perfect for multi-monitor environments and distraction-free viewing. The cabinet is available in either black or white with matching cables to ensure that the monitor fits the aesthetic of any office. It comes with a unique space saving and ergonomic stand with 195 mm height adjustment and 344 degrees swivel. An attachable cable cover and cable holder also come with the monitor, for storing cables neatly behind the monitor. An optional stand bracket (PCSK-03) is also available for attaching a thin client or mini PC to the back of the monitor without affecting stability or movement.

The monitor comes with two HDMI, one DisplayPort and one USB Type-C input to ensure connectivity with any PC. Furthermore multiple inputs can be viewed simultaneously on the screen with the Picture-by-Picture (PbyP) and Picture-in-Picture (PinP) functions. With PbyP, the screen can be split into either 2 or 4 sections; each displaying a separate input signal or application. With PinP, an additional input signal can be viewed in a corner of the screen, above the main image.

With the USB Type-C input, a single USB Type-C cable can transmit video, audio, and USB signals and supports a super speed transfer rate of up to 5 Gbps. In addition, the FlexScan EV3285 can supply up to 60 watts of power for recharging notebook PCs and other devices via one USB Type-C cable, eliminating the need for separate power cables. The clarity of images, thin frame and vast connectivity make the monitor perfect for control rooms, conventional office and CAD use, as well as dealing rooms.

The FlexScan EV3285 is also compatible with EIZO’s proprietary software Screen InStyle, which lets users assign a preset mode to applications and adjust the circadian dimming and power settings of one monitor or all monitors in a multi-monitor setup. An additional feature allows switching of the monitor inputs using user-defined hot keys rather than the switches on the front of the monitor. A server app for Screen InStyle gives an administrator control over the settings of all FlexScan EV3285 units in an installation from a central location. This is especially helpful for enterprises that want to ensure all units are adjusted properly and the power-save settings are activated.

Additional Features

  • Two USB downstream ports (besides one USB Type-C port) and a headphone jack
  • Electrostatic switches on the front of the monitor for easy control of the monitor’s settings
  • Flicker-free viewing at all brightness levels

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) announced the release of the FlexScan EV2430, a 24-inch energy efficient monitor ideal for business environments such as back offices and control rooms.
The FlexScan EV2430 has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1920 x 1200 resolution. It uses an LED-backlit IPS (in-plane switching) LCD panel with 178° viewing angles and 1000:1 contrast ratio, and it has a typical brightness of 300 cd/m2.

The monitor features an ergonomic stand that can be adjusted to fit any viewing needs. It has 131 mm height adjustment, 35 degrees upward and 5 degrees downward tilt, 344 degrees swivel and 90 degrees rotation meaning that it can be viewed in a portrait position.

The brightness dimming methods of conventional LED-backlit monitors cause many people to see flicker which results in eye fatigue. EIZO uses its own hybrid technology that makes flicker unperceivable even at low brightness levels. Furthermore, in dimly-lit work environments, brightness is adjustable to about 1 cd/m2 which is less than 1% of the maximum.

EIZO incorporates its own EcoView technologies to cut down on power consumption. EcoView Optimizer 2 saves power by reducing the backlight brightness and increasing the gain on screens consisting mostly of dark content. Auto EcoView automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness in accordance with changes in the ambient brightness to trim power usage while reducing eye fatigue. A presence sensor called EcoView Sense detects when the user leaves the desk and automatically switches to power save mode. When the user returns then EcoView Sense powers the monitor on again. This feature detects both the user’s movements and body heat for increased accuracy. With these technologies, typical power consumption is just 12 watts.

Furthermore, the monitor includes the preset mode ‘Paper Mode’ which adjusts the colour temperature of the screen to make it appear just like real paper. By reducing the colour temperature, blue light is decreased which has been linked to eye fatigue. This makes Paper Mode ideal for reading documents and word processing without tiring.

Additional Features

• One DisplayPort, DVI-D 24 pin, and D-Sub mini 15 pin input terminal
• USB hub with one upstream and two downstream ports
• Dual 1-watt internal speaker with a stereo and headphone jack
• sRGB, Movie, Paper, and two user-adjustable preset modes
• Zero watts of power consumed when the main power switch is off
• Energy Star and TCO Certified Displays 7 compliance
• Available in a cabinet colour choice of black or grey

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the new ColorEdge CG319X – a 31.1-inch monitor with DCI-4K resolution (4096 x 2160) and HDR gamma support for the professional post production workflow. It is the successor model to the CG318-4K with several upgraded features.

ColorEdge CG319XDistinguishing it from its predecessor, the ColorEdge CG319X comes equipped with HLG (hybrid log-gamma) and the PQ (perceptual quantisation) curve for displaying and editing HDR (high dynamic range) video content. The optimised gamma curves render images to appear more true to how the human eye perceives the real world compared to SDR (standard dynamic range). Having a monitor equipped with HDR gamma support ensures professional creators can reliably display HDR content during the editing process so it is ready for colour grading at the end of the workflow.

ColorEdge CG319X is equipped with an upgraded built-in calibration sensor, which allows the user to continue to operate the monitor even during recalibration. The sensor swings onto the screen at a time designated by the user and takes up minimal space so work remains uninterrupted.A built-in sensor eliminates the need for a third-party calibration device and ensures the screen stays color-accurate.

The monitor’s wide color gamut reproduces 98% of the DCI-P3 color space used in the media and entertainment industry. In compliance with the DCI standard, the ColorEdge CG319X offers a high contrast ratio of 1500:1 for producing true blacks that are otherwise difficult to display on a typical LCD monitor. In addition, it is equipped with a retardation film which allows tones to retain their depth even when viewed from an angle.

The color and brightness of an LCD monitor can be affected by changes in ambient temperature of the monitor itself. The ColorEdge CG319X is equipped with an internal temperature sensor which detects those changes and adjusts the monitor so gradations, color, brightness, and other characteristics continue to be displayed accurately. The algorithm used in the AI (artificial intelligence) 2 of the monitor allows it to perform this temperature detection and adjustment even at high brightness levels for providing a truly accurate viewing environment. In addition, EIZO’s patented digital uniformity equalizer (DUE) technology also counterbalances the influences that a fluctuating temperature may have on color temperature and brightness for stable image display across the entire screen. The monitor also provides noiseless, fanless operation while still maintaining low heat output without impacting performance.

Additional Features

  • 3D LUT for individual color adjustment on an RGB cubic table
  • 10-bit simultaneous display from a 24-bit LUT for smooth color gradations 3
  • DCI-4K resolution at 60 Hz via DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI input
  • Broadcast and cinema preset modes: EBU, Rec. 2020, Rec. 709, SMPTE-C, DCI, PQ, and HLG
  • Two DisplayPort and two HDMI inputs
  • Ergonomic stand which meets IEC/EN 62368-1
  • Light-shielding hood included
  • 5-year manufacturer’s warranty 4

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) is celebrating the golden anniversary of its founding.

EIZO 50th logoEIZO, which means image in Japanese, is a visual technology company that develops high-end display solutions. It originated as an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of black and white TVs in rural Japan. In the 1980s, EIZO began developing and manufacturing monitors for enterprise customers and then expanded its product lineup for speciality markets. Today, EIZO imaging solutions are available in more than 80 countries and are widely used in healthcare facilities such as operating rooms and radiology reading rooms, photography and post production studios, air traffic control facilities, and trading rooms and control rooms.

For much of its history, EIZO has performed its own research and development, manufacturing, and quality control in house. When existing components were insufficient, EIZO designed its own semiconductors and developed its own software to complement its hardware, creating added value and a competitive advantage in the process. This corporate culture of self-reliance has allowed EIZO to distinguish itself by providing complete solutions while guaranteeing high quality and reliability.

“EIZO has grown from a small manufacturer to a renowned imaging specialist by developing, producing and selling the best visual display solutions in the world,” said Yoshitaka Jitsumori, president and CEO of EIZO. “In the years to come we will further expand our imaging expertise to continually meet our customers’ expectations and realise a prosperous future through the value of images as only EIZO can.”

To mark its 50th anniversary, EIZO will share new content with its followers on social media. Starting on April 4th, EIZO will post an episode or piece of trivia on its Facebook and LinkedIn pages in many countries and languages every Wednesday for the next 50 weeks*. The posts will cover a vast array of topics including the company’s origins, its subsequent evolution into a high-end monitor manufacturer, vintage products it has released over the years, and its current positon as a visual technology company.

*The 50th anniversary will be celebrated in the company’s fiscal year which begins in April and ends in March of the following year.

At this years’ Photography Show, leading manufacturer of high-end visual display products EIZO will be opening the doors to its colour surgery on stand B10. Between 17 – 20th March 2018 EIZO will be inviting photographers to bring their images to the colour surgery to let them ‘make them better’ with live ‘at stand’ demonstrations on market leading EIZO monitors.

As part of EIZO’s commitment to the creation of great images, they will be answering questions such as ‘what is uniformity and why does it matter to your printed image?’ And, ‘does your monitor understand your printer and vice versa?’ Using images that attendees bring to the #EIZOsurgerystand, the demonstrations will show image makers how they could make their images even better, richer, deeper, brighter and more accurate, with the use of an EIZO monitor.

On the lead up to the event EIZO will also be offering 20% off the price of a day ticket at www.eizocolour.com/tps2018.

CuratOR EX2621Hakusan, Japan, March 1, 2018 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the release of the CuratOR EX2621, a 26-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) wide screen surgical monitor with three screen support and image enhancing technology.

The EX2621 is a high-end version of the 26-inch EX2620 that was released in October 2017. While the EX2620 is able to display up to two separate inputs, the EX2621 is able to display up to three. These three inputs can be viewed separately on the same screen using PoP (picture-out-picture), or two signals can be overlaid on top of a third signal using PiP (picture-in-picture). This is ideal for simultaneously viewing surgical images with other images such as MRI, CT and vital signs. By integrating several signals onto the one screen, work efficiency can be improved.

Furthermore, unlike the EX2620 which is equipped with only one 3G-SDI (BNC) input terminal, the EX2621 is equipped with two. The EX2621 also has two 3G-SDI (BNC) output terminals, meaning that it is possible to connect the monitor to other monitors and/or video recording equipment. In addition, 3G-SDI (BNC) realizes stable transmission over long distances of 30 meters.

The EX2621 is equipped with an LED-backlit LCD panel for faithfully reproducing high definition endoscopy and surgical microscope feeds. It has a maximum brightness of 700 cd/m2 and a high contrast ratio of 1400:1. Additionally, the EX2621 is equipped with EIZO’s image enhancing technology – Smart Resolution with Sparse Coding (S.R.S.C.), which allows low-resolution images to be viewed clearly in full HD without any lag.
